When and why did you start drumming?
I started drumming 6 years ago and my first drum was an African Djembe. I gained most of my drumming skills and experience from going to the local drum circles, and connecting to the amazing drumming community we have here in Toronto. The drum found me at a very important cross road of my life, when I decided to give up the music I was doing for many years and somehow just replaced that longing for performing and creating music.

Do you sing or play other instruments?
Yes, I play acoustic guitar and sing a bit (or at least try).

What’s your favourite memory of drumming?
Wow I have so many amazing experiences, its hard too choose from 3 years of unforgettable performances but I will never forget our first show at the Muhtadi Drumming Festival in 2013, the wicked R.O.M show in 2014 and the Beaches Jazz Festival in 2015.

What inspired you to join TDot Batu?
The leader Pato Irie approached me 3 years ago at at the drum circle on Cherry beach and asked if I would like to be a part of something very unique, fun and challenging that involves drumming. I was hooked from the start 😉

What advice would you give to beginners?
First of all have FUN!!! Pay attention to the instructor and try your best, everything else will follow I promise.

What are you listening to lately?
Lots of world music, jazz, post rock and electronic chillout/ambient.

What’s your favorite place in the TDot?
We have a beautiful city with so many great places but I like the water and the outdoors so I would say Cherry beach, Sunnyside beach, and High Park.
