We started the Timbau workshops series today, and it was really exciting to see the turn out for the first class ever here in Toronto! People were having lots fun while they were learning how to play this fascinating instrument.

Timbau is like the Brazilian version of the African djembe, we use very similar techniques to get the sounds out of the drum. We have the slaps, the base in the middle of the drum and the open tones. Putting your hands in a certain way while you hit on the skin will allow you to get all those sounds out.
